February 04, 2012 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON -- After facing three major-conference foes to start the season including two ranked opponents, the No. 65 Princeton men's tennis team picked up its first win of the campaign in its first home match Saturday afternoon, defeating Cleveland State 6-1.
Princeton swept the doubles point and took five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Matija Pecotic, ranked No. 46 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, didn't give up a game in his win over Cleveland State's top player, Ali Shabib.
The loss ended Cleveland State's two-match visit to the Ivy League as the Vikings fell 7-0 to Columbia Friday afternoon. Princeton will raise the rackets against two more foes next weekend in a trip to North Carolina to face UNC Greensboro Saturday and Elon Sunday.
