Cabral 8th at NCAAs and Callahan to Run the Mile Final

NAMPA, Idaho (3/9/12) - Senior Donn Cabral finished in eighth place in the men's 5000-meter run at the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships today in Nampa, Idaho.
The six-time All-America Cabral ran 13:53.14 in a race that featured the 15 best 5,000-meter runners in the nation had set an NCAA meet record.
This is the third time Cabral has run the 5,000 in the NCAA championships. All three times he earned points for the Tigers, finishing in the top eight overall. At the 2010 outdoor championships he finished sixth and at the 2011 outdoor championships he was eighth.
This season Cabral set the Ivy League and program record in the 5,000 at 13:45.90.
Earlier in the day, junior Peter Callahan qualified for the final of the men's mile.
Callahan finished ninth in the preliminary race that kicked off the track events of this year's indoor championships. Callahan ran 4:06.96 to qualify for the 10-man final that will be held tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. (local time). This season Callahan ran two sub-4-minute miles, just the second Tiger to run a mile in under four minutes and just the third all-time in the Ivy League.
