No. 12 Women's Water Polo Heads to GWU & Maryland for Weekend Action

After playing six games in Southern California, the No. 12 Princeton women's water polo team returns to the East Coast for a weekend trip to conference rival George Washington and Maryland, who is tied for No. 12 in the nation with Princeton. The Tigers (20-3 overall, 2-0 Southern) will face the GWU Colonials (7-8 overall, 0-2 Southern) on Friday, Mar. 30 at 8 p.m. in Washington, D.C., before heading to College Park, Md. for an 8 a.m. meeting with the Terps (14-4 overall, 4-0 Western).
Last Time Out: The Tigers went 4-2 in California, including wins over then-No. 12 CSU Northridge, 4-3, and a 7-6 overtime victory over then-No. 19 UC San Diego. Princeton's losses came at the hands of top-10 programs, Arizona State and San Diego State.
Looking Ahead: Next Friday, Apr. 6 will mark the Tigers home finale. Princeton will face Hartwick at 7 p.m. in DeNunzio Pool. The game will also mark Senior Night for the graduating senior class of Katlin Poladian, Kristen Ward and Audrey Zak.
Movin' Up in the Rankings: Princeton jumped from No. 18 to 12 in the national polls last week. This is the highest the Tigers have been ranked this season. They are tied for No. 12 in the nation with this week's opponent Maryland.
Scouting George Washington: George Washington returns home riding a three-game winning streak, after snapping a seven-game skid. The Colonials are 7-8 overall, 0-2 Southern and host their home opener versus the Tigers. The GWU offense is led by Rachel Bently's 30 goals and 25 assists in 15 games played. Over 57 quarters in the cage, Chandler Vilander has a 10.39 goals against average, tallying 98 saves and 148 goals against.
Scouting T-No. 12 Maryland: In a battle between the 12th ranked teams in the nation, Maryland will host the Tigers following its 4-1 California road swing. The Terps are 14-4 overall, 4-0 Western and open a three-game homestand this weekend beginning with Princeton. Allison Campbell leads the Maryland offense with 25 goals, while Zoe Respondek is the team's assist leader with 24. In goal, three different players have seen time between the pipes, with Shelby Reyes has taken the bulk of the Terps' minutes. In seven starts, she's made 72 saves and allowed 55 goals against for a 10.30 goals against average.
