Women's Water Polo Duo Earns Southern Division Weekly Honors

Goalie Kristen Ward and attacker Brittany Zwirner earned Southern Division weekly honors after helping the Princeton women's water polo team capture its seventh division title in program history. Zwirner was named Player of the Week and Ward took home Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
Zwirner scored the game-winning goal with 2.4 seconds in the championship game versus Brown to lift the Tigers to a 9-8 victory on April 15. The junior had seven goals, five steals and an assist over the three-game tournament. Zwirner earns Player of the Week honors for the second time in her career.
Ward (below) was named Defensive Player of the Week for the eighth time in her career and fourth this season. The Princeton co-captain made 34 saves over the weekend helping the top-seeded Tigers win their first Southern Championship since 2008.
No. 14 Princeton now heads to the Eastern Championships as
the No. 2 seed. The tournament will run from April 27-29 at Brown University in
Providence, R.I. and the winner will earn the automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA
Women's Water Polo National Championship.
