Women's Soccer Takes Ivy Opener at Yale in OT

• Princeton defeated Yale 2-1 in overtime in New Haven, Conn., to open the Ivy League schedule with a victory.
• The Tigers improved to 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Ivy, while Yale fell to 5-4-0, 0-1-0 in league play.
• The game-winning goal came at the 96:55 mark when on a long throw-in by Princeton's Liana Cornacchio which was then inadvertently headed into the Yale net by a Yale player.
• Princeton outshot Yale 16-6 on the afternoon, including 9-1 in the first half and 7-4 in the second half. Yale had the only shot of the 6:55 in OT.
• Yale's Muriel Battaglia headed in a corner kick by teammate Melissa Gavin 11:18 into the game to give Yale the lead.
• With 24:41 gone, Gabriella Guzman tied it on an assist from Kacie Kergides, and the game stayed tied for the rest of regulation.
• Claire Pinciaro played the entire game in goal for the Tigers, making three saves. Her counterpart, Rachel Ames, made four saves.
• The visiting team has now won the last six games in the series with Yale, and Princeton's all-time advantage in the series grew to 22-11-2.
• The Tigers will visit Saint Peters Tuesday afternoon for a non-league contest before returning to the Ivy schedule Saturday at Roberts Stadium against Dartmouth.
