The Princeton women's volleyball team knows that the first half of the Ivy League season didn't go as well as anticipated, and the Tigers are looking forward to a stronger finish when the second half of the season begins Friday at the Palestra.
Princeton has dropped four straight matches, including a pair of 3-2 decisions and a 3-1 loss at Ivy frontrunner Yale, but it will get a chance to kick start the second half of its season against one of the two teams it defeated earlier this season. The Tigers rallied past Penn in the Ivy opener for a 3-2 thriller in Dillon Gym.
Sophomore Kendall Peterkin earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors after the match, when she recorded 21 kills and eight digs in a 21-25-25-17, 25-23, 15-25, 15-11 win over the Quakers. Freshman Lauren Miller was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after recording 59 assists and helping Princeton hit .313 in the win.
Princeton has won three straight over Penn at the Palestra, but this series has been known for its marathon thrillers recently. Each of the last three matches, as well as four of the last five, have gone the distance; last season at the Palestra, Princeton won the final two sets 25-23 and 15-13 to claim the 3-2 win.
