Volleyball Drops Close Final Sets, Moves To 1-1 In Ivy League Play

The Princeton women's volleyball team was looking for back-to-back marathon wins to open its Ivy League season, but the host team had other plans. Cornell moved to 2-0 in Ivy play by winning a pair of two-point final sets to grab a 3-1 victory over the Tigers (1-1).
Princeton scored a 25-22 victory in the second set, and nearly pulled off a third-set comeback, though the Big Red fought it off for a 25-23 win. The Tigers held a lead for much of the fourth set and even held a match point, but Cornell won the final three to finish the match with a 26-24 win.
Sophomore Kendall Peterkin, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week, led the Tigers with 12 kills and 13 digs, while freshman Kendall Peterkin added 10 kills and five digs. Junior Tiana Woolridge had eight kills and seven blocks, while classmate Nicole Kincade had 10 blocks to go along with a pair of kills.
Freshman Lauren Miller, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, had 35 assists, eight digs and five blocks, while classmate Ellie Shannon added eight kills and four blocks.
Princeton will make the overnight trip to New York City and take on Columbia Saturday at 5 pm. The Lions moved to 1-1 in the Ivy League with a 3-2 comeback win over Penn.
