Princeton, coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory at Dartmouth last Saturday night, would love to conclude its season on a three-match win streak, which would include a victory over the Ivy League champion Bulldogs. Yale comes into the weekend having clinched the league crown with an 11-1 record, while Harvard is three matches back.
A win over Yale would also allow Princeton a possible opportunity to catch Brown, which plays Friday at the Palestra, for a share of fourth place in the league standings. Brown, which won a 3-2 thriller over the Tigers in Providence earlier this season, comes into the weekend with a 7-5 Ivy mark.
Princeton has gotten terrific play recently from its youth, including two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week Cara Mattaliano, who has a chance to catch Columbia's Bailey Springer for the kills lead in Ivy play during the final weekend. Mattaliano currently ranks second with 3.39 kills per set, and her 3.82 points per set ranks third in the league.
Sophomore teammate Kendall Peterkin goes into the final weekend with the points lead, as her 3.89 points per set is .01 ahead of Springer and .07 ahead of Mataliano.Princeton will also say goodbye to the four members of its senior class this weekend: Kelsey Janke, Leah Jordan, Chelsea Parker and Christine Renschler.
