Offensive Leader Cesan Captures Ivy Player of the Week Honors
November 05, 2013 | Field Hockey
Coming off a five point weekend, including scoring an overtime game-winner, Princeton field hockey senior Michelle Cesan earned her first career Ivy League Player of the Week honor.
The three-time All-America and 2013 tri-captain has had a major part in Princeton winning its last six games, recording a point (four goals and three assists) in five games over that span. Cesan has scored a goal in the last three games, two serving as game-winners, and Princeton is 10-0 when she records at least a point.
The midfielder opened the Tigers' final home weekend with a goal and an assist in Princeton's 4-0 shutout victory over Cornell on Nov. 2 and followed it up with the golden goal in overtime versus Rider to lift Princeton to a 2-1 victory the next day.
Cesan has eight goals and eight assists for 24 points on the year, all team-highs. She will look to extend her offensive streak on Saturday at Penn, as the Tigers (12-4, 6-0 Ivy) look to clinch the outright Ivy League title with a win.
