Harvard Tops Volleyball; Tigers Head To Dartmouth Saturday
November 09, 2013 | Women's Volleyball
Freshman Cara Mattaliano, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, led Princeton with 11 kils and 12 digs, but her effort would not be enough to keep Harvard's championship hopes alive. The second-place Crimson defeated Princeton 3-0 to stay within two matches of reigning champion Yale.
Mattaliano, a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week, was Princeton's only player with double-digit kills, while sophomore Sarah Daschbach joined her in the double-digit digs category with 11. Sophomore Kendall Peterkin, the Ivy League leader in both kills and points, recorded eight kills and five digs.
Junior middle Nicole Kincade added seven kills and a team-best three blocks, while freshman Lauren Miller had 28 assists and three kills for the Tigers, who fell to 8-13, 4-7 in the Ivy League, with the loss.
Princeton will complete the road portion of its 2013 schedule Saturday at 4 pm when it heads to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth on the Ivy League Digital Network. The Big Green fought off a furious Princeton rally earlier this season and claimed the final set in a 3-2 win.
