May 07, 2013 | Men's Golf
The Princeton men's golf team was one of 14 teams placed in the NCAA Regional hosted by Washington State at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. May 16-18.
It is Princeton's first trip to the NCAA Regional since 2006, when it played in the Central Regional at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio. Princeton earned the bid by winning the Ivy League Championship two weekends ago at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. It is Princeton's 39th appearance in NCAA competition.
Princeton's five players will be in a field of 75 players, which includes the 13 other teams plus five individuals. The Tigers will play alongside California, TCU, Southern California, Saint Mary's, Virginia Tech, BYU, North Texas, Baylor, San Diego State, Ball State, Memphis, Pacific and Saint Francis (Pa.). Two individuals from Sacramento State and one each from UC Davis, Utah Valley and Boise State will also be at the regional.
The top five teams plus the top player on the leaderboard not on one of those five teams will advance to the Georgia Tech-hosted finals at The Capital City Club in Atlanta to be held May 28-June 2.
