Fantinelli Named Ivy League Player Of The Year For The Third Time
April 29, 2026 | Men's Golf
Riccardo Fantinelli has been named Ivy League Player of the Year for the third time, becoming just the second player since the award was first presented in 2009 to earn the honor three times and the first Princeton player to do so. He joins Peter Williams who was named Player of the Year in 2009, 2011, and 2012 while playing at Dartmouth as three-time Player of the Year selections.
In addition, Fantinelli was named a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection to make him a four-time All-Ivy honoree. He is the first Ivy player since Cornell's Mike Graboyes (2015-18) to be named All-Ivy four times. Fantinelli is the 13th player in Ivy history to earn four career All-Ivy honors and fourth Princeton player to do so (Steve Loughran '82, Jason Mraz '89 and Jerry Jeong '95).
Fantinelli averaged 69.6 over his 23 competitive rounds this season, finishing under par in six of his eight events. Over the course of the season, Fantinelli was third at the Rod Myers (-6), third at the Jim DeLapa (-10), fifth in stroke play at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate (-2), 10th at the Johnnie-O (-10), 22nd at the Pauma Valley Invitational (-1) and third at the Ivy League Championship (-3).
Joining Fantinelli as a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection was sophomore Reed Greyserman. Now a two-time first-team All-Ivy selection, Greyserman earned three medalist honors this season. He was individual stroke play champion at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate in Scotland in October, and followed that up with a second career win at the Princeton Invitational on his home course at Springdale in April. This past week, he was co-medalist at the Ivy League Championship at Baltusrol.
Tommy Frist was named honorable mention All-Ivy for the second year in a row, while freshman Eric Zhao was named honorable mention All-Ivy in his debut season.
Another honor for Fantinelli came via his selection to the Academic All-Ivy team.
