June 12, 2013 | Baseball
Princeton junior Mike Ford was named by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) an All-America Third Team utility selection. The pitcher/first baseman is one of 58 NCAA Division I players recognized on the three-team list and the lone Ivy League representative, it was announced Wednesday.
The 2013 Ivy Player and Pitcher of the Year was also named a Gregg Olson Award semifinalist and to the Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List this spring.
Ford batted .320 (47-for-147) with 38 RBI, 31 walks and six home runs, while going 6-0 on the mound with a 0.98 ERA. In nine starts, he tossed five complete games and a shutout over 64 innings. The righty tallied 32 strikeouts, gave up only seven earned runs and opponents hit .191 against him.
The three-time All-Ivy selection previously was named a 2011 College Baseball Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America.
