Women?s Water Polo Tabbed No. 8 in Preseason Poll

The two-time reigning CWPA champion Princeton women's water polo team opens the year in the top-10 with a No. 8 ranking in the preseason Varsity National Top 20 with 59 points, matching a program-best from March 2000.
Princeton, who is tied with San Jose State at No. 8, is the only Southern Division team ranked in the poll. Fellow CWPA Western Division foes Michigan (No. 13), Indiana (No. 15) and Hartwick (No. 19) join the Tigers in the rankings.
This season the Tigers are slated to face seven teams currently ranked or receiving votes in: San Jose State, No. 10 San Diego State, Michigan, No. 12 UC San Diego, No. 16 Loyola Marymount, Hartwick and a receiving votes Iona squad.
The Tigers enter the year following their fifth-place finish at the 2013 NCAA Championship. Princeton finished the year at 28-6, 5-0 Southern after sweeping both the Southern Division and CWPA championships for the second straight year with undefeated records.
Princeton is also tabbed No. 1 in the CWPA Division I/III preseason poll with 100 points and will open the year hosting its annual invitational from Feb. 8-9. The Tigers' opener is versus Wagner at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
