| A cold start from the field and on the glass put the Tigers in a hole Thursday against UTEP to open the Wooden Legacy in Fullerton, California. Princeton moved sophomore Steven Cook into the starting lineup after he provided a spark off the bench in Princeton's first four games, giving the Tigers a lineup of three sophomores (Pete Miller, Spencer Weisz, Cook), a freshman (Amir Bell) and a junior (Hans Brase). It was another sophomore, Henry Caruso, who became a contributor off the bench with Cook in the starting lineup, finishing with 15 points to stand as one of four Tigers in double figures. Cook chipped in 13 points, with Brase adding 12 and Bell 10. The Tigers shot 28 percent overall in the first half overall 21 percent (3 of 14) from 3-point range as UTEP's lead grew as large as nine points before the break. Still, Princeton was down just three points a the half, turning the ball over just twice in the opening 20 minutes. Princeton clawed within a point at 23-22 on a half-opening dunk by Cook, but the Miners never let Princeton pull even. |

UTEP's C.J. Cooper nailed a 3 from the wing just in front of his bench to put the Miners up 54-48 with 1:32 to go after Princeton had clawed to within a single possession. The momentum swing turned out to be the difference, as Princeton came no closer than six points the rest of the way. |
