Fairleigh Dickinson got hot in the second half Wednesday night, going on a 25-4 run to erase a 10-point Princeton lead and go up 68-57 with less than five minutes to play. Though the FDU lead was never in double figures after that, the Knights went 15 of 18 from the free throw line after that point to stay just ahead of the Tigers and win, 89-85. Princeton outshot and outrebounded the Knights, but Princeton's defense didn't have enough, allowing FDU to shoot 70 percent (14-20) from the field in the second half while managing two steals to nine for FDU. |

• Princeton and Stony Brook have never met on the basketball court. The Tigers last played an America East team on Jan. 4, 2010 at Maine, a 52-50 loss, after the Black Bears won 58-55 in OT the previous season in Jadwin. The team's last win over an AE team was on Dec. 2, 2003, in its most recent game against an AE opponent before the Maine series, when the Tigers defeated UMBC 68-56 in Maryland.
• Princeton's top five scorers are non-seniors, with sophomore Spencer Weisz, junior Hans Brase, freshman Amir Bell and sophomores Steven Cook and Pete Miller. The last time the Tigers finished the season with no seniors among the top five in scoring was 2009-10, when sophomore Douglas Davis, junior Dan Mavraides, freshman Ian Hummer, junior Kareem Maddox and sophomore Patrick Saunders were in the top five. That team also had just two wins going into Dec. 6, standing at 2-4. On that date, however, the Tigers defeated Lafayette, beginning a run that saw Princeton win 12 of 13 and 18 of 22 to close the regular season. Three three-point defeats, including two to league champ Cornell and one to Brown, kept Princeton from an Ivy title, but the Tigers did win two games in the CBI and win the Ivy title the next season.
• Princeton has turned slow starts into winning Ivy seasons before. Six times in the Ivy era, before this year, Princeton has won no more than two of its first eight games, and in four of those six years (1960, 1980, 2006, 2009), the Tigers were able to have a winning Ivy season, going 11-3 the first two times, 10-4 in 2006 and 8-6 in 2009.
• During Mitch Henderson's tenure, the team has been able to jumpstart seasons after a slow beginning. Princeton started 1-5 in Henderson's first year of 2011-12, going 18-6 for the rest of the regular season to finish 10-4 in conference will all four Ivy losses on the road. Princeton was 3-6 in 2012-13 before winning 13 of its next 16.
• The Tigers' youth movement is in full effect. Princeton has started one junior (Hans Brase), three sophomores (Pete Miller, Spencer Weisz, Steven Cook) and one freshman (Amir Bell) in each of the last four games. Over the first four games this season, seniors averaged 48.3 minutes per game. In the last four games, the seniors have averaged 17.3 mpg, playing 15, 10, 16 and 28 minutes.
• Of Princeton's 533 points so far, 473, or 88.7 percent, have been scored by non-seniors. Princeton's top five scorers on per-game average are non-seniors, and four of those are freshmen or sophomores (Weisz, Cook, Miller, Bell).
• Amir Bell is the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week after averaging 11.3 ppg at the Wooden Legacy, which saw Bell achieve two of his three double-figure scoring games on the season. His is the first Ivy weekly rookie honor of the season for Princeton, either player or rookie, and Spencer Weisz had four rookie honors last year on his way to being the Ivy Rookie of the Year.
• Spencer Weisz is leading the team at 15.6 ppg. The last sophomore (or younger) to end the season leading the team in scoring was in the 2009-10 season when Douglas Davis '12 averaged 12.7 ppg. Since: Kareem Maddox '11 in 2010-11, Ian Hummer '13 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and T.J. Bray '14 in 2013-14.
• Entering Thursday's games, Hans Brase was the Ivy League leader in rebounds per game at 8.8. The last time Princeton is on record with the Ivy League's leading rebounder at the end of the season was Bill Bradley in 1964 at 13.0 rpg, though the league does not list rebounding leaders for 1965, 1968, 1969 or 1970.
• Spencer Weisz led the Ivy, entering Thursday's games, in minutes per game at 36.6.
• Entering Thursday's games, Weisz was 13th in the nation in total minutes (293) and Hans Brase was 15th in total rebounds (70), Princeton's highest individual rankings. Princeton's 65 3-pointers were 21st in the nation.
• The Tigers' 3-point shooting percentage defense isn't where it was at the end of last season, when Princeton limited opponents to a 32.5 percent clip. So far this season, opponents are shooting 46.7 percent from beyond the arc, allowing foes to make only two fewer 3-pointers (63) than the Tigers have (65) despite Princeton taking 40 more attempts. The Tigers are hitting at a 37.1 percent rate from distance.
• Princeton's two best shooting games of the season have come in the past two games, shooting 56.5 percent against San Jose State and 52 percent against FDU. The success on the offensive end hasn't translated to the other side as of yet, as four straight opponents and seven of eight on the season have shot at least 42 percent from the field.
• Princeton coach Mitch Henderson is presently ninth on the program's all-time wins list, but seventh place isn't far off. He's now at 60 wins, behind predecessor Sydney Johnson (66) and John Thompson III (68). Both are fellow Tiger alumni, Johnson (head coach from 2007-11) in the Class of 1997 and Thompson (head coach from 2000-04) in the Class of 1988.
• In 58 Ivy League seasons, Princeton has posted 52 winning Ivy seasons, four 7-7 finishes and just two losing records.

• Stony Brook is in its 16th season as a Division I program, and although the Seawolves have yet to make the NCAA Tournament, they've come very close under 10th-season coach Steve Pikiell. Stony Brook has won regular-season America East titles in three of the last five seasons before losing in the conference tournament each time and gaining an automatic NIT berth, a stretch that included a first-round NIT win in 2013. In 2011 and 2014, when the Seawolves didn't win the AE regular-season title, the team made it to the conference tournament finals before seeing their run end. The program has won 20+ games in four of the last five seasons.
• Stony Brook was the preseason favorite in the America East according to the conference's official coaches poll. Jameel Warney and Carson Puriefoy were preseason all-league honorees. Warney was a second-team all-league honoree as a freshman in 2013 and first-team and AE Player of the Year last season. Puriefoy was a second-team pick last season, and though the team graduated third-teamers Dave Coley and Anthony Jackson (Coley was also an all-defensive team pick), the Seawolves lost all-rookie team pick Ahmad Walker to transfer.
• Among Stony Brook's previous coaches is Rollie Massimino, who led the then-Division III program from 1969-71 before making a two-year stop as an assistant coach at Penn and in 1973 taking over the Villanova program he would lead to a national title in 1985.
• Steve Pikiell also has Ivy League experience, having coached at Yale under Dick Kuchen from 1993-95. It'll be the second straight game Princeton has faced a former Kuchen assistant, as FDU coach Greg Herenda worked in New Haven from 1997-99.
• Steve Pikiell has faced Princeton once as a player, winning with Connecticut against Pete Carril and the Tigers in 1987, 49-46 in Hartford. Princeton was 4-0 against Yale with Pikiell as an assistant from 1993-95, the second of those two years with Mitch Henderson in uniform for the Tigers. While Pikiell was at George Washington as an assistant in 2001, the Colonials beat the Tigers 60-57, the last time Pikiell faced Princeton.
• The Seawolves have had a consistent starting lineup this season, going with Jameel Warney, Carson Puriefoy, Rayshaun McGrew, Roland Nyama and Kameron Mitchell in all eight games. Though Warney (15.9 ppg), a 6-8 junior, and Puriefoy (14.4 ppg), a 6-foot junior, average double figures in points, the Seawolves have five more players, McGrew and Nyama among them, that average between five and eight points per game. Warney, the 2014 America East Player of the Year, is averaging 12.3 rebounds per game.
• While most of Princeton's minutes have gone to non-seniors this season, 100 percent of Stony Brook's have, and that's because the Seawolves don't have a senior on the roster.
• Though Stony Brook is a New York public university, the Seawolves have just one Empire Stater on the roster in Long Islander Lucas Woodhouse. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are the most common locales on the roster, with two players each, and the Seawolves have gone overseas for Roland Nyama of Germany and Jakub Petras of Slovakia.
• Stony Brook has won four of its last five games with the one loss in that span coming at Cincinnati Tuesday night. The Seawolves had held opponents under 40 percent from the field in the four wins before the Bearcats shot 52.7 percent.
• Stony Brook has shot at least 40 percent from the field in six straight games. The team had shot at least 40 percent from 3-point range in three of its last four games heading into Cincinnati before going 2 of 13 (.154) from beyond the arc against the Bearcats.
• Thanks in large part to Jameel Warney's 12.3 rpg average, the Seawolves have a rebounding advantage of 10.5 rpg and had won the rebounding battle in their first seven games before being outboarded 32-30 by Cincinnati last time out. Part of SBU's rebounding edge comes from a 50-19 owning of the glass against their fellow Long Islanders from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
• Through Wednesday's games, Warney is the national leader in double-doubles, with seven, and he was No. 2 in the nation in rebounds per game at 12.3.

| Mitch Henderson '98 is in his third season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 60-38. Under Henderson, Princeton is 31-9 at home, 28-14 in the Ivy League, and 18-3 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 47-12 when leading at the half under Henderson. Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first three campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Luehring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04). Henderson is in ninth place on the Princeton all-time wins list, with predecessor Sydney Johnson '97 in eighth with 66 wins over four seasons. Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95. Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, current San Diego Padre Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14. Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield). Prior to Princeton, Henderson coached at Northwestern for 11 seasons under his final head coach at Princeton, Bill Carmody, from 2000-11. |
