PRINCETON, N.J. (11/4/14) - This weekend marks the final games of the 2014 calendar year for Princeton women's hockey team. Princeton hits the road for the first time since November 1 as it takes on No. 10 Harvard and Dartmouth, Dec. 5. & 6.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton continues to challenge itself with a stretch of games against top-notch opponents. As the No. 2 ranked team comes into Hobey Baker Rink this weekend, it marks the third straight top-5 team in legendary Baker Rink. Princeton hosted No. 5 Clarkson last Saturday and No. 4 Quinnipiac on Tuesday. After starting the season 6-1-1, the Tigers' tough schedule has seen three straight losses.
Sophomore defender Kelsey Koelzer sits atop the scoring column with 12 points on three goals and nine assists. Sophomore Molly Contini has scored a team-high six goals and five assists for 11 points. Junior Jaimie McDonell adds nine points, while freshman Kiersten Falck chips in eight. Junior Kimberly Newell has a .917 save percentage and a 2.29 goals against average to go along with a 5-4-1 record.
PRINCETON/HARVARD SERIES
Harvard is 45-29-4 in the all-time series with Princeton, which began in 1980. The Crimson have won the last seven meetings with the Tigers' last win on Jan. 6, 2012 a 3-0 shutout. Ali Pankowski has collected three assists in the series to lead the Tigers against the Crimson.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard is 4-2-2 overall and ranked No. 10 in both national polls this week. With a 3-1-1 ECAC Hockey record, Harvard is sixth in the standings. Harvard won its last two games, a 4-3 win at Northeastern and a 4-1 win at home over travel partner Dartmouth on Tuesday night.
Junior Miye D'Oench has scored eight goals and adds three assists for 11 points. Senior Samantha Reber has a team-high eight assists and has scored one goal for nine points. Seniors Hillary Crowe and Sarah Edney add eight and six points respectively. Junior Emerance Maschmeyer, goaltender of the Canada National team, has seen the majority of time in net. She is 1-2-2 with a .901 save percentage and a 2.85 GAA. Sophomore Brianna Laing, sister of Princeton alum Denna Laing '14, is 2-0 in three appearances with an .827 save percentage and a 4.00 GAA.
PRINCETON/DARTMOUTH SERIES
Princeton holds a slight advantage in the all-time series with Dartmouth, 39-31-5. The Tigers swept the series last year winning 3-2 both home and on the road. Brianna Leahy has three goals and one assist against the Big Green, while Jaimie McDonell and Ali Pankowski add three points apiece.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth started the season hot, with four straight wins. Since then the Big Green are 0-4 but like Princeton those games were against solid opponents (St. Lawrence, Clarkson, BU and Harvard). Dartmouth is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the ECAC.
The Big Green is led offensively by junior Laura Stacey's 11 points. She has five goals and six assists. Junior Lindsey Allen has a two-goal lead on her with seven tallies, while sophomore defender Eleni Tebano matches Stacey's six assists. Sophomore Robyn Chemago has a .918 save percentage and 2.13 GAA as the lone netminder.
