Women's Water Polo Readies for Final Regular-Season Games
April 03, 2014 | Women's Water Polo
Just a week before the Southern Division championships begin, the Princeton women's water polo team will play its final regular-season games this Saturday and Sunday between Lewisburg, Pa., and DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton is ranked ninth in the nation in the Collegiate Water Polo weekly poll released Wednesday as the highest-ranked team east of Arizona. The team is on an eight-game winning streak and is 23-1 heading into the three matches this weekend.
Saturday will bring Princeton to Lewisburg, Pa., to face Brown and Harvard at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. respectively in Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. It'll be the second trip of the year to Bucknell, where the Tigers won the Bison Invitational by going 4-0 against Marist, San Diego, Bucknell and Michigan.
Sunday will bring Princeton back home to face George Washington in a 1 p.m. match. Of the three opponents this weekend, Harvard is the only team Princeton has already faced this weekend. The Tigers defeated the Crimson 11-9 in an ESPNU-televised game at DeNunzio Pool on March 2.
Once this weekend's matches are complete, two of the next three weekends will decide Princeton's postseason fate. The Southern Division championship will bring Princeton to Harvard for the April 12-13 event, while the Eastern championship will follow April 25-27 at Bucknell.
