Ivy Champion Field Hockey Welcomes Class of 2018: Meet Rachel Park
June 04, 2014 | Field Hockey
After the 2013 season yielded another Ivy League championship trophy and NCAA Elite Eight appearance, the Princeton field hockey team will welcome five student-athletes to join the Tigers for the 2014 campaign.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2018,” said head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. “They are a group of young women who thrive in competitive environments and have proven that they have the will and determination to rise to both the academic and athletic challenges inherent in the Princeton experience."
"They separated themselves during the recruiting process by their close alignment to the values of our program and a clear passion for all things Tiger Field Hockey. We are excited to see their talents unfold in the years to come,” Holmes-Winn added.
Princeton field hockey will announce each member of the Class of 2018 individually, so be sure to tune into GoPrincetonTigers.com over the next two weeks to meet the newest additions to the program.
The fourth member of the incoming class to be introduced is midfielder Rachel Park from Baltimore, Md.
A four-year starter at the Bryn Mawr School, Park served as a team captain in 2013. A first-team All-State selection, she also garnered praise as an IAAM Conference All-Star, Baltimore Sun Player to Watch and two-time ABC Athlete of the Week. A 2013 Mid-Atlantic Regional All-America pick, Park earned recognition on the 2013 NFHCA High School All-Academic
Squad. In 2012, she helped lead her team to an IAAM Championship and was named second-team All-State.
Park played with Club Applebee during her high school years and in 2011 they were Festival Champions. She was selected to the Futures Elite squad in 2013 and 2014 and played in the Futures Elite Championship in 2013.
Holmes-Winn on Park
"Rachel is independent and possesses a quiet resolve. Hard-working, caring and process-driven are just a few qualities used to describe Rachel. Her strength lies in her capacity to learn and adapt to her environment. I feel confident that Rachel's game will elevate quickly with exposure to the pace and tempo of the collegiate game. She will be an exceptional teammate and a great example of an individual who gives her very best to all areas of her life."
