Quinn Epperly and Mike Zeuli, 2013 Ivy League championship teammates, make up 20 percent of Princeton's all-time Bushnell Cup winners. That special duo will represent the Orange and Black one more time, as both will play in the College Gridiron Showcase Jan. 31 at the University of Texas.
The game, which features top seniors from all levels of NCAA football, will be played at Arlington Maverick Stadium at 1:30 pm CST. From the official web site:
College Gridiron Showcase is an All Star football game for ALL College Football Divisions. This game will showcase and provide exposure for top college senior football players from around the country. The players will be selected by a panel of football experts to play in our game. Players will come in for 6 days and 5 nights to be evaluated by professional football league scouts. The players will receive professional coaching, mentoring, life coaching and seminars that will benefit them as they move forward in their professional lives in or out of football.
The game and practices leading up to the game will showcase the players to scouts and executives from top professional leagues such as the NFL, CFL and AFL. The players will attend meetings, have practice, perform individual drills, 1 on 1's, team drills and in many cases have personal interviews with the scouts and executives from these professional clubs.
Epperly and Zeuli will be teammates once again, as the two will be paired on the Desperados.
"I couldn't be happier to see both Quinn and Mike have an opportunity to compete in front of scouts and executives, as they both played a significant role in all we accomplished over the last few years," head coach Bob Surace said. "Quinn made one winning play after another throughout his career, while Mike was one of the most disruptive defensive players I have seen at this level."
Epperly, the 2013 Bushnell Cup winner as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, ended his career ranked second all-time at Princeton in rushing touchdowns (38) and passing touchdowns (35), and he ranked in the Top 5 all-time in total plays, total offense, attempts, completions, interception percentage and completion percentage. Though he dealt with injuries throughout the 2014 season, his performance during the 2013 Ivy League championship season — including a record-breaking performance at Harvard — cemented his legacy.
Zeuli, the 2014 Bushnell Cup winner as the Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Year, led Princeton and ranked second in the Ivy League in tackles (87), and he led the Ivy League with 16.5 tackles for loss. Zeuli switched positions every year, but he created havoc no matter where he was positioned. He raised his game against elite competition this season; Zeuli had double-digit tackles against the top three teams in the Ivy League, including 16 in the season finale against Dartmouth.
