PRINCETON, N.J. (1/30/14) - Princeton heads into the final stretch of ECAC action and will get it started this weekend hosting Dartmouth and No. 4 Harvard.
EYE ON THE TIGERSIt's been 20 days since the Tigers have played a league game but have been tested, after facing No. 1 Boston College on Monday night. Princeton is 10-10-1 overall and 8-6 in the league, sitting in sixth place. Sophomores Molly Contini and Kelsey Koelzer each have a team-leading 22 points. Contini has 12 goals and 10 assists, while Koelzer has seven goals and 15 assists. Junior Jaimie McDonell adds 18 points on seven goals and 11 helpers. Sophomore Hilary Lloyd and freshman Kiersten Falck chip in 14 and 12 points, respectively. Junior Kimberly Newell is 7-10-1 in net with a .915 save percentage an a 2.56 goals against average. Freshman Alysia DaSilva provides back up and is 3-0 with a 0.37 GAA and a .980 save percentage - most recently earning the victory over Brown.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth heads to Princeton with a 10-9-1 overall record and is 6-7-1 in the ECAC, to sit three points back from Princeton. The Big Green have been hot and cold this season, with notable wins and losses. Most recently the team defeated Harvard 4-2 before losing to both Cornell (2-1) and Colgate (2-0). Junior Lindsey Allen leads the charge with 15 goals and four assists for 19 points. Sophomore Kennedy Ottenbreit has 19 points as well on nine goals and 10 helpers. Junior Laura Stacey adds 18 points with a team-high 11 assists and seven goals. Five other players are in double digits in scoring. Sophomore Robyn Chemago is the only netminder to see playing time this season. She has a .904 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA with two shutouts.
PRINCETON/DARTMOUTH SERIES
Princeton owns 40-31-5 lead over Dartmouth in the all-time series since it began in 1979-80. The Tigers are most dominant playing the Big Green at home, 20-11-5. Princeton has won the last three games including a 5-2 win in December. In that game Princeton grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period before Dartmouth tied it up with two in the second. The Tigers then rattled off three goals in the first nine minutes of the third for the win. Jaimie McDonell and Audrey Potts each scored twice in that game, with Kimberly Newell stopping 26 shots.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard had a 10-game win streak come to an end two weekends ago at the hands of travel partner Dartmouth. The Crimson rebounded well with back-to-back shutouts against Colgate (4-0) and Cornell (3-0) this past weekend. Overall the squad is 14-3-2 and ranked No. 4 in both national polls. With an 11-2-1 record in league play, Harvard is second in the standings, one point back from Quinnipiac. Junior Mary Parker sits atop the scoring column with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists. Only senior Samantha Reber has more assists, 15, while she has scored three times for 18 points. Junior Miye D'Oench and freshman Lexie Laing (sister of former Tiger Denna Laing) have scored nine goals each and have 17 and 16 points, respectively. Sophomore Sydney Daniels has the most goals with 11. Junior Emerance Maschmeyer has started in 12 of 19 games, missing a handful as a member of the Canadian national team. She boasts a .926 save percentage and a 1.81 GAA. Sophomore Brianna Laing (another sister of Denna) has played well in Maschmeyer's absence, going 6-0 with a .908 save percentage and a 1.97 GAA.
PRINCETON/HARVARD SERIES
Harvard holds a 46-29-4 lead in the series with Princeton but it's the Tigers that have had the better luck on their own ice, 15-7-3. Princeton is looking for its first win over Harvard since the 2011-12 season, with the Crimson winning the last eight games. In December Harvard beat Princeton, 3-0, scoring a goal in each period.
