Jan. 8 TigerCast: Courtney Banghart & Mitch Henderson Talk Ivy Openers
January 08, 2015 | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
On the eve of their Ivy League openers against Penn this weekend, the head coaches of Princeton basketball, Courtney Banghart and Mitch Henderson, join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Banghart has led the women's team to an incredible 16-0 start, and the Tigers enter this weekend ranked 22nd in the national media poll and 24th in the national coaches' poll. The Tigers won't be short of motivation this weekend, as they will face the last team to defeat them in regular season play; the Penn Quakers, winners of the Big 5 already this season, won the Ivy League title last year with a season-ending win at Jadwin.
Henderson has guided a young men's team to three wins in their last four games, as well as four straight wins at home. Princeton now has an opportunity to make an early statement in Ivy League play before taking the next two weeks off for the exam break. The young Tigers, who struggled out of the Ivy gates last season, could gain huge confidence with a victory in the second half of the home doubleheader.
