Men's Tennis Closes Farnsworth Invitational
October 11, 2015 | Men's Tennis
Play wrapped Sunday at the Farnsworth Invitational at the Lenz Tennis Center and in Jadwin Gym with some extra singles matches for the Princeton men's tennis team and a pair of Tigers playing for their doubles flight title.
“It was another great weekend of tennis and we had some positives from our players that competed," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "Though we didn't get wins in doubles today we came back and played well in the remaining singles matches. We might have left a few wins out there this weekend, but we gained a lot while working on tactical aspects we wanted to focus on. Overall, we saw quality effort from guys vying for starting spots in the lineup this spring.
“I was pleased in terms of the way we ran the event with regard to the format as we utilized the Universal Tennis Ratings for ordering the singles draws," Pate said. "Each participant was matched in draws that had equally rated opposition. As expected, this provided highly competitive matches, whether it was a first-round match or final round match.”
Wisconsin's Alexander Kokorev and Darius Mackenzie defeated Jonathan Carcione and Mohamed El Tonbari for the Black Draw flight title, while Carcione, Jimmy Wasserman and Florin Radu were victorious in their singles matches played outside the draws Sunday.
