| Game Summary |
Princeton ran its win streak to nine games and its Ivy League record to 4-0 with a 3-1 win over Columbia Saturday night at Roberts Stadium. The Tigers got two goals before the game was 15 minutes old and rode that lead the rest of the way, getting a third goal from Emily Sura on a free kick before 10 minutes were gone in the second half. Tyler Lussi had Princeton's first goal, heading a ball behind Columbia keeper Allison Spencer, who had come out to challenge it, and Mimi Asom redirected a ball put forward by Mikaela Symanovich less than three minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Columbia spoiled the shut out in the 75th minute when Natalie Ambrose lofted a try from close to midfield, arcing it just under the crossbar. The win, coupled with Harvard's 1-0 win over Brown earlier Saturday, sets up a showdown between the Tigers and the Crimson, both of whom have 12 Ivy standings points and a 4-0 league record, five points clear of third-place Cornell. The Princeton-Harvard game is set for a 1:30 p.m. kick next Saturday in Cambridge. |
| Game Notes |
• Junior Tyler Lussi's goal was her 11th of the season and 39th of her career, tying her with Emily Behncke '06 for third place on Princeton's all-time career list. Linda DeBoer '86 had 41, the second-most in program history, and Esmeralda Negron '05 is the record holder with 47. • Princeton remained unbeaten at home against Columbia since 1995. Since that last Columbia win, Princeton is now 8-0-2 at home against the Lions. • The season's 11th win puts coach Sean Driscoll one shy of his personal best as an NCAA head coach, set with Manhattan in 2006. • Princeton's nine-game win streak is its longest since winning 12 in a row in 2012. Princeton has scored 2+ goals in every game of the current win streak, its longest such streak since scoring 2+ in every game of the 12-game win streak in 2012. • Princeton has outscored its opponents 28-7 during the nine-game winning streak. |
