Volleyball Trio Stars In Who's The Tiger series
Senior opposite Kendall Peterkin and freshman setter Claire Nussbaum both posted their best matches of the 2015 season last Saturday to help the Tigers jump back into the Ivy League race. Both earned individual Ivy League honors after the Penn win, and both will look to keep the momentum moving forward during a crucial upcoming home weekend.
Peterkin, a two-time first-team All-Ivy League honoree, recorded her 14th 20+ kill performance of her career in the 3-1 win at the Palestra. She had 22 kills and hit .354 in the match, and she added both 10 digs and four blocks.
"Kendall had a huge game against Penn," head coach Sabrina King said. "She was nearly unstoppable for the final two sets against Penn. Kendall was in her groove and played with the confidence and urgency of a senior in the second half of league play. I couldn't be more proud of her."
While Peterkin has years of experience to draw from, Nussbaum is showing impressive nerve during her first run through the Ivy League. She had career highs in both assists (48) and digs (21), and she served Princeton on a 12-0 run in the third set to help the Tigers to a four-set win.
"Claire also showed her grit as a freshman setter, running a nearly perfect offense," King said. "She impressed everyone with her defensive efforts, as well as her tough and consistent serve. I was really happy with her all-around performance."
Princeton is now two matches back of both Dartmouth and Harvard with three weeks left, and both teams will be visiting Dillon Gym this weekend. You can watch both live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
