The first two Ivy League Championships of the year will be decided Friday, while the Princeton football team will look to get back to the .500 mark in the Ivy League Saturday. Cross country standouts Lizzie Bird and Michael Sublette, as well as junior linebacker RJ Paige, are guests on the latest TigerCast to discuss all three.
Junior Lizzie Bird will lead the women's cross country team into Friday's Heptagonal Championships, which return to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Tigers are currently the highest-ranked team in the Ivy League, although there are five total Ivy program either in the national Top 25 or are receiving votes. Bird discusses her journey from England to Princeton and the expectations in a deep Ivy field.
The women will race at noon, one hour after the men tip off the Ivy championship year with the 11 am race. The Princeton men are the reigning Ivy championships, but it brings a much younger team to Van Cortlandt Park this year against a strong league field. Sublette will be one of the contenders for top individual honors after finishing second in the 2014 event, and he previews the men's race here.
Paige and the Princeton football team will host Cornell on both the American Sports Network and the Ivy League Digital Network Saturday at 3:30 pm. Off back-to-back losses, the Tigers will try to get back on track against a Cornell team hungry for its first win. Paige talks about bouncing back from the Harvard game and one of his big responsibilities this weekend, dealing with Cornell senior back Luke Hagy.
