Men's Cross Country Punches Ticket to NCAAs With First Place Finish at Regionals

BETHLEHEM, PA. – With a dominant performance, the Princeton men's cross country team took first place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday, punching the team's ticket to the NCAA Championships.
Boasting a 2-4-5-15-19 finish, the Tigers boasted a team score of 45, besting second-place Georgetown, who had 63.
Myles Hogan was the top Tiger finisher, taking second place as he crossed the 10k finish line in 29:21.2. Making his move, Hogan passed eight runners between 5k and 8k.
The second Tiger to claim a spot in the top 5 was Jacob Nenow, who took fourth place with a time of 29:35.8.
Jackson Shorten was just behind him to round out the top-5 Tigers, making a final kick to pass four runners as he raced to the finish for a time of 29:36.9.
Passing five runners at the 5k mark, Sebastian Martinez was fourth across the line for Princeton with a time of 30:14.5, good enough for 15th place overall.
The fifth and final Tiger scorer was first-year Hayden Boaz who continues to have a breakout season. Making a net gain of 51 runners throughout the race, Boaz clocked in at 30:18.2 for 19th place.
Avery Keith and Steven Hergenrother were the Tiger pushers, taking 22nd and 31st with times of 30:23.6 and 30:35.0.
Working as a team with all scorers finishing in the top-20, the Princeton pack cruised to victory, earning the Tigers an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships next week.

Princeton will now look ahead to the NCAA Championships next Saturday, Nov. 22, as the Tigers return to Gans Creek in Columbia, Mo. for the second time this season with national accolades on the line.
