Volleyball Continues Ivy Roll With Third Straight Player Of The Week Honor
November 10, 2015 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball team claimed its third Ivy League Player of the Week honor in as many weeks, and now it has the potential for one of its most exciting weekends in program history.
Senior opposite Kendall Peterkin, a two-time first-team All-Ivy League honoree, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the second time in that three-week span after averaging 17 kills, 10.5 digs and 3.5 blocks per match in a home sweep of Yale and Brown last weekend.
Peterkin had 19 kills, the second-most of her 2015 Ivy League season, in the 3-1 victory over Yale; she also added eight digs and four blocks in that win, her first in eight attempts against the Bulldogs. She added 15 kills against Brown and became the 10th player in program history to record more than 1,200 career kills at Princeton.
"I was so happy that Kendall played at such a high level in her final two matches at Dillon Gym," head coach Sabrina King said. "She has been such a force here, and that was the case again this weekend. Hitting over .300 with 19 kills against Yale was a big-time effort that we needed, and then getting a win on Senior Day is always special."
Peterkin and Tigers have now won eight of their last nine matches to fight back into contention for the Ivy League title heading into the weekend. Princeton, which travels to Cornell (Friday, 7) and Columbia (Saturday, 5) this weekend, is only one match back of Harvard, which travels to Yale (Friday, 7) and Brown (Saturday, 5).
