PRINCETON, N.J. (11/25/15) - In a battle of the Tigers, the RIT women's hockey team hosts Princeton in a two-game series this weekend, Nov. 27 & 28 at the Gene Polisseni Center. Game time on Friday is at 7 p.m., Saturday's game is at 3 p.m.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is 5-4-1 overall and receiving votes in the national poll after spending two weeks at No. 10. The Tigers began the season on a tear, going 5-1, but are 0-3-1 in the last two weekends - though three of those games were against nationally ranked squads. Two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week Karlie Lund is leading the team offensivey with 10 points. She has scored five goals and five assists. Freshman defender Stephanie Sucharda and junior Hilary Lloyd each have five points. Juniors Kelsey Koelzer, Morgan Sly and Cassidy Tucker have each scored three times. Senior Kimberly Newell is 4-3-1 in goal with a .934 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average. Sophomore Alysia DaSilva is 1-1 with a .957 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA.
SCOUTING RIT
RIT is 4-12 on the season and snapped a seven-game losing skid last weekend in a series with Brown. The Tigers defeated the Bears 5-1 before a 2-1 loss the next day in the two-game series. Leading the offensive attack is senior Carly Payerl. Payerl has six goals and four assists fo 10 points. Freshman Reagn Rust and junior Cassie Clayton have each scored four goals and five assists for nine points. Junior defender Taylor Thurston also has nine points with eight coming from assists, a team high. Junior Brooke Stoddart is 3-6 in goal with a 3.14 GAA and an .889 save percentage. Freshman Jenna de Jonge is 1-5 with a .860 save percentage and a 4.50 GAA.
THE SERIES
Princeton leads the all-time series, 9-2-3. The teams played to a scoreless tie the last time out, on Nov. 8 of last year at Hobey Baker Rink. The game was preceded ny Princeton's 4-3 overtime victory. Princeton is 8-0-2 in the last 10 meetings, with RIT's last win coming in January 1989.
