Johnson Helps No. 14 Women's Water Polo to Wins Over Wagner, Long Beach St.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Ashleigh Johnson racked up 36 saves in two games to help the 14th-ranked Princeton University women's water polo team to a pair of wins over Wagner and Long Beach State at Bucknell's Bison Invitational.
Notching 16 saves in the team's Invitational opener, Johnson helped guide the Tigers to a 9-6 win over Wagner. Even better in the nightcap, Johnson matched her own school record with 20 stops in a 12-7 victory over Long Beach State.
Princeton will wrap up Invitational play against St. Francis on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m.

Morgan Hallock and Jessie Holechek each posted a hat trick to lead Princeton to a 9-6 victory over Wagner in its Bison Invitational opener.
Holding a 3-0 scoring edge in the first, the Tigers netted two of the four goals in the second period. Battling the Seahawks to a draw the rest of the way, Princeton and Wagner each tallied four scores following the intermission.
Hallock drew five ejections and nabbed a steal in addition to her three scores, while Holechek recorded three blocks. Ashley Hatcher chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Kimi Klein found the back of the net on her lone shot attempt. Camille Hooks picked up a team-high three steals.
Finishing with 16 saves, Ashleigh Johnson moved to 2-1 on the year. Making six stops in the first half, she had four saves in the third quarter before tallying six more in the final period. At the end of the third quarter, Johnson netted her first career goal, scoring on a half court shot as the frame expired.

Making five stops in the first eight minutes, the junior had three saves in the second period. Helping Princeton outscore Long Beach 4-1 in the third quarter, Johnson racked up eight more stops. Johnson closed out the game with four saves in the final frame.
Taking a 7-5 lead into the intermission, the Tigers outscored LBS 5-2 in the final 16 minutes. Eight different players recorded a goal for Princeton, led by Jessie Holechek's hat trick. Ashley Hatcher also had three goals goals, while Camille Hooks, Sydney Cheong, Taylor Dunstan, Pippa Temple, Kimi Klein, and Emily Smith also got on the board.
Hooks also had two assists and a steal, while Hatcher drew four ejections. Holechek added an assist and two steals, while Dunstan drew a pair of ejections. Haley Wan was 3-1 on sprints with a block and an assist.
Winless against Long Beach State in six previous meetings, the victory marked the Tigers' first in the series.
