Women's Track & Field Captures Fifth H-Y-P Crown in Six Years

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With 87 team points, the Princeton University women's track & field team laid claim to its fifth H-Y-P title in six years. Host Harvard finished second with 54 points, followed by Yale (41).
Katie Hanss won the mile run with a time of 4:49.29, narrowly edging out Yale's Kira Garry (4:49.62). Jasmine Blocker finished first in the 400m with a time of 55.72, while Quinn Parker took third (58.56).
Picking up another win for Princeton, Meghan McMullin took home the top honor in the 500m with a time of 1:15.34. Elisa Steele was third, clocking in at 1:16.19.
Cecilia Barowski and Kim Mackay were 1-3 in the 800m run. Barowski set the pace with a time of 2:07.45, while Mackay finished in 2:13.63.
Megan Curham (9:25.67) and Kathryn Fluehr (9:31.84) were the top two finishers in the 3000m, while Erika Fluehr placed fourth (9:32.86).
In the 1000m, Zoe Sims was the runner-up, finishing four tenths of a second behind Yale's Emily Waligurski (2:50.18) with a time of 2:50.52. Lizzie Bird was third with a time of 2:52.14.
Kerry Krause led Princeton in the 60m hurdles, coming in fourth with a time of 9.07. Joanna Anyanwu was the first Tiger to cross the finish line in the 60m dash, finishing fourth with a time of 7.76. Anyanwu was second in the 200m with a time of 25.63.
Princeton's 4x400 relay of Emily Broyles, Parker, Blocker and Ashley Forte were second overall with a time of 3:47.10. The Tigers' Rachael Chacko, Hanss, Forte and Sims were the runners-up in the 4x880 with a time of 9:00.78.
In the field events, Julia Ratcliffe took home the title in the weight throw thanks to a toss of 19.90m (65-03.50) on her second attempt. Kennedy O'Dell was fourth at 14.85m (48-08.75). O'Dell also took third in the shot put with a toss of 12.80m (42-00.00). Brielle Rowe was fourth at 12.34m (40-06.00).
Allison Harris notched a win in the pole vault, clearing 3.85m (12-07.50). Teammate Lauren Santi was third at 3:30m (10-10.00).
Inka Busack matched a personal-best in the high jump, winning the event at 1.73m (5-08.00). Taylor Morgan was third at 1.65m (5-05.00).
Sara Ronde won the long jump with a leap of 5.59m (18-04.25), while Krause placed fourth at 5.30m (17-04.75). Alexandra Lanzafame was second in the triple jump at 11.57m (37-11.50).
