No. 11 Women's Water Polo Opens CWPA Play With Wins Over Bucknell, Hartwick

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 11th-ranked Princeton University women's water polo team opened its CWPA schedule with a pair of wins over Bucknell and Hartwick at Kinney Natatorium.
Dispatching of the host Bison in the morning session by a score of 9-6, the Tigers made quick work of the Hawks, 9-4. Extending its win streak to seven games, Princeton improved to 9-1 (2-0 CWPA) on the season.

Trailing 2-1 after the first quarter, Princeton accounted for four of the game's next six goals. Holding a 3-1 scoring edge in the third period, the Tigers battled the Bison to a 1-1 draw in the final frame en route to a three-goal margin of victory.
Pippa Temple and Emily Smith each had a pair of goals, while Haley Wan, Ashley Hatcher, Camille Hooks, Sydney Cheong and Jessie Holechek also got on the board. Wan and Holechek also had two assists, while Temple collected a team-high three assists. Morgan Hallock drew a squad-best four ejections.
Making her fifth career start, Helena van Brande remained unbeaten, finishing with six saves. Making just two stops in the first half, the rookie netminder had three saves in the third quarter before tacking on one more in the fourth.

Princeton improved to 2-0 in CWPA play with a 9-4 win over Hartwick. Knotted at 2-2 after the first quarter, the Tigers scored five of the game's next six goals. Tallying two of the three goals in the second half, Princeton cruised to a five-goal margin of victory.
Ashley Hatcher led Princeton with a hat trick, while Camille Hooks had two goals and three assists. Haley Wan, Sydney Cheong, Taylor Dunstan and Pippa Temple accounted for the Tigers' other four scores. Wan also had two assists and two steals, while Hooks finished with a team-high four takeaways.
Upping her season record to 4-1, Ashleigh Johnson recorded 14 saves. Making five stops in the first eight minutes, the junior had four saves in the second quarter. Turning away four of the five shots she faced in the third, she tacked on one more stop in the final frame.
