PRINCETON, N.J. (2/4/15) - The Princeton women's hockey will honor its four seniors this weekend as the final home weekend of the regular season is upon us. The Tigers will host Colgate on Friday night at 7 p.m., and Cornell on Saturday at 4 p.m.
EYE ON THE TIGERSPrinceton is 11-10-2 overall and 9-6-2 in the ECAC to sit in sixth place in the league standings. The Tigers are 3-0-1 in their last four league matches including a win over No. 4 Harvard and tie with Dartmouth last weekend. The three points also pushed the Tigers into first place in the Ivy League standings and earns the team points in the latest USCHO poll. Sophomore Molly Contini leads the team with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points. She scored the game-tying and game-winning goals last weekend. Defender Kelsey Koelzer also has 24 points with 17 coming from assists, while scoring seven goals. Junior Jaimie McDonell adds 19 points with seven goals and 12 assists. Sophomore Hilary Lloyd, freshman Kiersten Falck and senior Brianna Leahy are also in double digits in scoring. Junior Kimberly Newell is 8-10-2 in goal with a .921 save percentage and a 2.40 goals against average. Freshman Alysia DaSilva is 3-0 as the backup tender and has a 0.37 GAA and a .980 save percentage - making 50 saves on 51 shots.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate is 7-20-1 and with a 4-11-1 ECAC record it is the last team out of playoffs if the season ended today, sitting ninth. The Raiders played dropped a 3-2 overtime game at home to Cornell on Tuesday, to halt a three-game unbeaten streak. A pair of freshmen lead the team in scoring with 15 points each; Megan Sullivan has eight goals and seven helpers while Breanne Wilson -Bennett has seven goals and eight assists. Seniors Melissa Kueber and Miriam Drubel adds 12 points apiece, while freshman Shelly Perry, freshman Annika Zalewski and junior Nicole Gass are in double digits in points as well. Junior Ashlynne Rando is 6-15-1 in goal with a .915 save percentage and a 2.50 GAA. Senior Brittney Brooks backs up with an .890 save percentage and a 2.86 GAA to go along with a 1-5 record.
PRINCETON/COLGATE SERIES
Princeton leads Colgate 23-8-3 in the all-time series and won the first meeting of the year 4-2 at Starr Rink. The teams have split in five of the last six seasons with Princeton last recording a sweep in 2007-08. Ali Pankowski has five points in seven games, while Jaimie McDonell has four in three games and a +5 on-ice rating. Kimberly Newell is 1-2-1 with 79 saves on 89 shots, while Ashley Holt is 1-0 with 32 saves on 36 shots.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell has been a tear since December, going 9-1-3 with a minor hiccup at Harvard. Overall the Big Red are 13-7-3 and coming off of a 3-2 OT win over Colgate from Tuesday, are 11-3-2 in the ECAC to sit in a tie for third-place with 24 points, two out of first. Cornell is ranked No. 9 in this week's USCHO poll. Seniors Brianne Jenner and Emily Fulton have both reached 30+ points as the team's leading scorers. Senior Jillian Saulnier and freshmen defender Erin O'Connor add 27 and 23 points, respectively and four others have 10 or more points. Sophomore Paula Voorheis has played in goal in all but two games and has a .915 save percentage and a 2.56 GAA. Freshman Amelia Boughn backs up with a .918 save percentage and a 1.71 GAA in just over 175 minutes of play.
PRINCETON/CORNELL SERIES
Princeton holds a 42-32-3 advantage in the all-time series with Cornell and took a 5-4 game in October in Ithaca. The Big Red have had the upper hand lately, going 11-2 since the 2009-10 season. Brianna Leahy has seven points in nine games, while Ali Pankowski has six in nine. Kimberly Newell is 2-5 with 202 saves and 26 goals allowed. Ashley Holt has seen action as well, making 20 stops on 20 shots.
