Men's Track & Field in Second After First Day of Ivy Indoor Heptagonals

DAY 1 RESULTS
PRINCETON, N.J. - With 39 points, the Princeton University men's track & field team currently sits in second place after the Day 1 of the 2015 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonals.
Cornell is currently atop the leaderboard with 42 points, followed by Princeton and Dartmouth (18) in the top three. Penn checks in at No. 4 with 11 points followed by Harvard (6.50), Brown (6), Columbia (1) and Yale (0.50).
In the Tigers' best showing of the afternoon, Greg Leeper, Tumi Akinlawon and Jake Scinto placed 1-2-3 in the long jump. Setting a new personal record, Leeper won the event with a leap of 7.27m (23-10.25). Akinlawon also set a PR at 7.26m (23-10.00), while Scinto took third at 7.20m (23-07.50).
Securing four points for Princeton in the 3000m run, Mike Mazzaccaro placed fourth with a time of 8:11.71. August Kiles and Ben Gaylord combined for 11 more points in the pole vault. Tying for second, Kiles cleared a PR of 5.10m (16-8.75), while Gaylord was fourth overall with a mark of 4.90m (16-00.75).
With a strong showing in the prelims of the 60m dash, Carrington Akosa turned in the afternoon's top time at 6.82, tying his own school record. John Hill and Dré Nelson also qualified for the finals with times of 6.92 and 6.95, respectively. In the 200m dash, Akosa was just as impressive with a top prelim time of 21.97. Brent Albertson will also move on to the finals thanks to a time of 22.12.
Greg Caldwell earned a spot in the finals of the 60m hurdles after posting the second-best time of the prelims at 8.01. Rob Mohr also advanced to the finals with a time of 8.09. After the first day of multis, Stephen Soerens (2943) and Bryan Oslin (2459) currently sit in third and sixth place of the heptathlon.
In the prelims of the 500m dash, Josh Ingalls posted the third fastest time of the day at 1:03.92. Noah Kauppila had the best qualifying time in the 1000m run at 2:27.97, while Luke Brahm also earned a spot in the final eight with a time of 2:28.29. Garrett O'Toole was the Tigers' lone qualifier in the mile at 4:10.78.
