No. 11 Princeton Wraps Up Play at Harvard Invite With 11-6 Win Over Iona

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 11th-ranked Princeton University women's water polo team wrapped up play at the Harvard Invitational with an 11-6 win over Iona College.
Downing Iona for the second time this season, the Tigers improved to 16-1 all-time against the Gaels. Winners of 12-straight, Princeton moved to 14-1 on the season.
Up 2-1 after the first quarter, the Orange and Black held a 5-0 scoring edge in the second period. Iona accounted for three of the five goals scored in the third, but the Tigers battled the Gaels to a 2-2 draw in the final frame to hold onto a five-goal margin of victory.
Jessie Holechek paced Princeton with three goals, two assists and two drawn ejections. Ashley Hatcher had two goals and an assist, while Haley Wan had a goal and two helpers.
Emily Smith chipped in with a pair of scores, while Hannah Lapkin, Pippa Temple and Kimi Klein also got on the board. Pippa Temple had two steals, while Morgan Hallock drew a team-high three ejections.
Playing the first half, Ashleigh Johnson stopped five of the six shots she faced. Helena van Brande recorded three saves following the intermission, while also nabbing a steal.
