Second-Ranked Women's Lightweights Look For Cup Sweep vs. Georgetown

CLASS OF 2006 CUP HISTORY l NATIONAL POLL
One week after announcing itself as a major contender for both the Eastern Sprints and IRA national championships, the Princeton women's lightweight rowing team will conclude its regular season in Washington, D.C., where it will take on Georgetown for the Class of 2006 Cup.
Princeton moved to No. 2 in the national poll following its hard-fought victory over reigning national champion Radcliffe on the Charles River, and it will now face the seventh-ranked Hoyas in the final tune-up before the Tigers turn their focus to Eastern Sprints. Princeton is 12-0 all-time in this series, including a win of more than 15 seconds in the 2014 meeting.
“Last week we showed that we are just as fast as the other top ranked crews in the nation,” Wendt said. “This gave us confidence that with an enormous effort it would be possible to beat a team that has dominated for so long. Our boat has a lot of young talent in it, and as a result has a good learning curve. Every day that we are on the water together we get better and faster.”
Should Princeton win this weekend, it would likely enter the May 3 Eastern Sprints as the top seed; the Tigers will be looking for their first Sprints title since 2011.
