Women's Track Caps Penn Relays with 4x4 and 4x8

The Princeton women's track & field team wrapped up the Penn Relays today, racing in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
The women's 4x400 improved upon its time from Day 1 when it qualified for the Championship of America Race. The relay of senior Jasmine Blocker, junior Cecilia Barowski, senior Kim Macakay and senior Joanna Anyanwu ran 3:42.70 to finish eighth overall. Blocker led off with a 55.6 and passed the baton to Barowski for a 54.6 lap, followed by Mackay who ran the fastest lap of 54.54. Anyanwu anchored with a 57.99.
The 4x800 relay of sophomore Lizzie Bird, sophomore Katie Hanss, freshman Ashley Forte and sophomore Elisa Steel ran 8:51.32 to finish third in the college race. Bird led off with the best time at 2:12, followed by Hanss' 2:12.54, Forte's 2:12.11 and Steele's 2:14.68.
Princeton won five events at the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
After claiming a win in the hammer throw at the Penn Relays on Thursday, junior Julia Ratcliffe captured another victory today at TCNJ. She was the only competitor to throw over 60 meters as she found 63.73. Freshman Kennedy O'Dell was fourth at 46.04 and also had a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.61 and was fifth in the discus at 40.47. Junior Brielle Rowe was the runner-up in the discus with a toss of 46.28, while classmate Taylor Morgan was fifth in the shot at 12.14.
Princeton earned wins in both the long jump and triple jump. Sophomore Alex Lanzafame jumped to 11.66 to be declared the winner of the triple jump. Sophomore Sydney Hausman was sixth with a jump of 10.65, while freshman Delaney Kerkhof was seventh at 10.63. Junior Sara Ronde won the long jump at 5.59, while sophomore Ariel Becker was the runner-up at 5.34. Morgan tied for third with a jump of 5.29.
Freshman Brittany Henderson and sophomore Lauren Santi each cleared 3.20 in the pole vault to tie for fifth place, and junior Inka Busack jumped 1.62 to take third in the high jump.
The Tigers had four runners in the top 10 in both the 5k and the 1500.
Sophomore Nicole Marvin won the 5k at 16:50.71, as the only runner to finish under 18 minutes. Freshman Melissa Reed was the runner-up at 18:02.50 and was followed by Mary Hui in fifth place at 19:06.13 and Mallory Eden in sixth place at 19:13.43.
Freshman Jessica Ackerman claimed the win in the 1500 with a time of 4:40.65 and classmate Delaney Miller took second at 4:41.32. Junior Birdie Hutton was fourth at 4:41.78 and senior Gina Talt was sixth at 4:45.57.
In the 800, junior Summer Hanson had the best time for the Tigers at 2:15.37 to place fourth. Junior Maria Seykora was sixth at 2:15.71, followed by senior Rachel Skokowski at 2:17.13 and freshman Madison Offstein at 2:17.49.
Freshmen Quinn Parker and Mattie Baron went 7-8 in the 400 at 58.76 and 1:00.15, respectively.
In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Allison Harris was fourth at 14.72, while Morgan was seventh at 15.26. Junior Meghan McMullin was third in the 400 hurdles at 1:05.24.
Up next for the Tigers is the Princeton Open, next weekend May 1-2 at Weaver Stadium.
