Paternostro & Pons Moving on after Day 1 of NCAA Regionals

RESULTS
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (5/28/15) - Senior Stephen Soerens will have some company in Eugene, Ore., for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Joining him, thus far, is senior Sam Pons who took fourth in the 10k at the East Regional to advance to the final.
A decathlete, Soerens qualified as one of the top 24 in the nation and is set to make his run in the finals beginning on June 10.
Pons reaches championship weekend for the first time in his career. A two-time NCAA cross country championship participant, Pons previously ran the 5k at the Regional in 2013. This year he took on the 10k and finds himself one of 12 from the East that will run in the final at Historic Hayward Field on June 10 at 6:43 p.m., local time. Pons ran 29:54.15 in tonight's race at North Florida to take fourth overall.

The day got started with senior Bradley Paternostro moving on in the 1500. He advanced with one of the next three fastest times out of the preliminary round, at 3:45.69. Pons was ninth in heat 2 and 14th overall. He will have a day of rest before the quarterfinal on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. The top five from each of two heats, plus the next two fastest times will qualify for Eugene.
In the lone field event of the day, junior Jake Scinto placed 42nd in the long jump at 6.85 (22-5.75)
Tomorrow, Princeton's day begins with freshman Mitchel Charles and sophomore Christ Cook in the discus at 4 p.m. Junior Adam Bragg takes on the pole vault at 4:30 p.m., junior Greg Caldwell races in the 110-meter hurdles at 5:30 p.m., and senior Connor Martin runs in the steeplechase at 9:30 p.m.
