Eighth-Ranked Open Women Top USC In Regular-Season Finale

The eighth-ranked Princeton open rowing team knocked off 15th-ranked USC during the Tigers' regular season finale on Cooper River Sunday morning.
The victory improved the varsity boat to 8-2 on the season; the Tigers' next competition will be the 2015 Ivy League Championships, where the two-time defending champions should be the second seed behind Ivy-unbeaten Brown.
This was a positive way to go into Ivies, as it was another nationally ranked boat that Princeton was able to defeat.
"USC was tough," head coach Lori Dauphiny said. "They are a solid team. It was fantastic they were willing to cross the country to race Princeton."
Princeton won three of four races during the day, though the Trojans did claim a tightly contested 2V matchup. USC won that race in 6:37.1, only 1.7 seconds faster than Princeton. The Tigers sent two boats into the fours matchup, and both the A (7:14.0) and the B (7:17.0) were able to grab wins.
Princeton was also able to honor its Class of 2015 during its final race on Lake Carnegie. Since stepping inside the Shea Rowing Center the first time, the Class of 2015 has helped Princeton win two Ivy League Championships, place in the Top 6 at three NCAA Championships and win countless medals throughout the program.
"Senior classes come and go and each leave their mark," Dauphiny said. "This class has persevered and been victorious. They have helped lead this team by example and continue to do so. They will be greatly missed but luckily we still have more time with them."
