COMPLETE 2015 SCHEDULE
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University field hockey team has announced its 2015 schedule, which includes six games against opponents that earned NCAA Tournament berths last season.
The Tigers open their 2015 slate against North Carolina on Sept. 4 at Bedford Field. Princeton last met the Tar Heels in the 2012 national championship game, dispatching of UNC, 3-2. Two days later, Princeton will welcome Virginia (Sept. 6) to Bedford before hitting the road for a pair of contests against Bucknell (Sept. 12) and Delaware (Sept. 13).
The Orange and Black return home to face American on Sept. 20 before traveling to face perennial power Maryland on Sept. 22. Last season, the Terrapins scored a pair of victories over Princeton, ending the Tigers' postseason run in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Princeton opens Ivy League play at Dartmouth on Sept. 27 before squaring off with Yale on Oct. 2. The Tigers take a quick break from conference action with a match-up against Penn State on Oct. 4 before facing Columbia and Brown on Oct. 9 and 17, respectively.
After an Oct. 18 showdown against national runner-up Syracuse, Princeton will head to Cambridge to play Harvard on Oct. 24. The Orange and Black close out a four-game road-trip at two-time defending champion UConn on Oct. 25. Last year, the Tigers dropped a pair of hard-fought 4-3 decisions to the 2014 NCAA finalists, with Princeton's setback against Syracuse coming in double overtime.
The Tigers will close out their home slate against St. Joseph's (Oct. 28) and Cornell (Oct. 31), before heading to Philadelphia to face Penn in the regular season finale on Nov. 7.
Despite an uncharacteristic 8-11 finish in 2014, the Tigers secured their 10th-consecutive Ivy title, going 6-1 in league play. Navigating a challenging schedule, the Tigers faced seven teams ranked in the final NFHCA Top-20 poll, with six of their losses coming by just one goal.
