Lussi Named One of Top Drawer Soccer's Top 10 Division I Forwards
June 20, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Rising junior Tyler Lussi, who is more than halfway to Princeton's record for career goals, has been named one of Division I's top 10 forwards by Top Drawer Soccer.
On Lussi, the Web site wrote:
"Lussi surged into the conversation as nor just one of the best players in the Ivy League, but a top talent on the East Coast and beyond after scoring 18 goals in 16 games for the Tigers. The high watermark of her 2014 campaign came in an October classic against harvard where she scored four times in a 5-4 loss, showcasing what she does best: getting in behind opposing back lines and finishing chances in and around the penalty area."
The only Ivy Leaguer among the 10, Lussi was listed alongside players from Florida, Virginia, Texas Tech, Illinois, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Connecticut, BYU and Dayton.
Lussi has led Princeton in scoring in each of her seasons so far, first with 10 goals and four assists as a rookie, the most goals for a Princeton freshman in 31 years, and followed it with 18 goals and three assists last year, setting a program record for regular-season goals.
Lussi's 28 career goals tie her for fifth on the program's list and her 63 career points place her seventh. She is past the halfway point in her pursuit of both records, with Esmeralda Negron '05 as the program standard of 47 goals and 112 points.
