Field Hockey Wraps Up 2014 Season With End of the Year Banquet
June 03, 2015 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2014 Princeton field hockey team recently came together to honor its seniors and thank everyone that has helped turned the program into one of the most dominant Ivy League teams of the last 20 years.
The 2015 banquet was a chance for coaches, players, parents, alumni, and friends of Princeton field hockey to gather together and celebrate the 2014 season.
Season Recap
The 2014 campaign was not a typical season for the Tigers, with Princeton dropping its first four outings prior to the opening Ivy weekend. A 4-0 home win over Dartmouth followed by victories over American and Yale righted the ship slightly.
Princeton then lost the next five games, which included a setback at Columbia and a pair of double overtime losses to Syracuse and Delaware. Coming together to finish the season, the Tigers battled back from a 3-9 record. The Orange and Black would bookend a one-goal loss to eventual NCAA champions UConn with four conference victories, closing out the season as outright Ivy League champions thanks to a Harvard win over Columbia on the final weekend.
It was the program's 10th consecutive Ivy League title and the 20th of the last 21 years. Opening the NCAA Tournament with a 4-3 triumph at Monmouth, the Tigers ultimately fell to the University of Maryland.
2015 Senior Class
Princeton field hockey is deeply appreciative of the efforts of the 2015 senior class, which won 26 of 28 Ivy League games, advanced to the NCAA tournament each year, and most importantly helped the Tigers lay claim to the 2012 national championship. We would also like to thank them for always displaying a genuine love for their teammates and allowing us into their lives.
