Johnson Captures Pan Am Gold; Will Compete in FINA World Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. – After helping the United States Senior National Team to a gold medal at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada, Princeton University women's water polo standout Ashleigh Johnson has been named to the Team USA roster for the 2015 FINA World Championship in Kazan, Russia.
Helping the Stars & Stripes to a fourth-straight Pan Am title, Johnson recorded 12 saves in a 13-4 win over host Canada in the championship match. Recording five saves in an 18-3 triumph over Cuba, Johnson finished with 17 saves a pair of tournament appearances.
Earlier this summer, Johnson helped the Americans to gold medals at the Kushan Cup and FINA World League Super Final. Making 16 saves in a pair of showings at the Kushan Cup, Johnson saw action in all six matches at the World Super League Final, racking up 67 saves.
The reigning CWPA Player of the Year, Johnson has turned away 1,062 of the 1,533 shots she has faced (0.693) in her three seasons in Orange and Black en route to an 81-13 overall mark. Putting together three of the highest single-season save totals in program history, Johnson is already the Tigers' career leader with 1,062 stops.
Johnson and Team USA open play on Sunday, July 26 against Brazil before a pair of match-ups against Italy (July 28) and Japan (July 30).
