Meet the Class of 2019: Grace Baylis and Nicole Catalino
July 27, 2015 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. – Fresh off a 10th Ivy League title in 11 seasons, the Princeton University field hockey team will welcome eight student-athletes for the 2015 campaign.
“Our ultimate mission is to help our student-athletes maximize their long term potential in the classroom and on the playing field,” said head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. “We seek out individuals who are optimistic, obsessed with learning and improvement and who are attracted to the challenges inherent in being a student and athlete at Princeton University.”
“Our recruiting platform is simple: If you want 'easy'—go elsewhere,” added Holmes-Winn. “The young women I am about to introduce accepted the challenge of playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. They welcome the target on their back that comes with winning 19 of the last 20 Ivy Titles and most importantly they all said 'yes' to the notion of 360 degrees of excellence in their classroom.”
Princeton field hockey will be announcing the Class of 2019 over the course of the next week, so be sure to return to GoPrincetonTigers.com to meet the newest additions to the program.
Grace Baylis, GK
“Grace was an extraordinary sportswoman from Bromley High School in Kent, England,” said Holmes-Winn. “At Bromley, Grace was the youngest player ever to captain her school's first team. She was elected every year, making her the only athlete from Bromley to have the distinction of a three time captaincy. Grace also plays hockey in the highest women's domestic competition in England for her club Holcombe. Leader is the first word that her coaches and teachers use to describe Grace. Wise, level-headed, focused, uncompromising standards and responsible, are common themes associated with Grace and her approach to learning, leading and growth. We are thrilled to welcome Grace to Princeton.”
Why did you choose Princeton?
The academic environment that it provides is top class, allowing students to explore many areas and subjects and not limiting them to just one particular interest. I'm excited to be able to experience this and looking forward to the unique experiences.

Nicole Catalino
“Nicole is constantly working to improve as an athlete and hockey player,” said Holmes-Winn. “Nicole can sometimes fly below the radar, but what caught our eye is that her team is always better when she is on the field. She is efficient but extremely effective. Nicole plays for the toughest, most competitive club in PA and has found a way onto their first team consistently over these last three years. Her coaches value her no nonsense approach, willingness to listen, make changes, and her desire to improve. We see Nicole fitting either at striker or midfield and we look forward to watching her talents unfold.”
