Princeton Falls One Goal Short Against Harvard, 3-2

A wild first half saw five goals three lead changes and two ties but Princeton came up just one goal short in a 3-2 loss to Harvard on Saturday, Oct. 22 on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Senior defender Patrick Barba had his first career three-point game, netting a goal and an assist for the Tigers, and in his first start of the season junior James Reiner had two assists.
Taner Dogan put the Crimson on the scoreboard in the 5th minute when he just got a toe on a long throw-in by Justin Crichlow. Dogan was positioned at the near post and gave the ball a little nudge for the first of five first-half goals.
The Ivy League's leading goal scorer Greg Seifert added to stat column with his ninth tally of the season in the 11th minute. Reiner took a throw in, earning the start after scoring a goal on Tuesday at Georgetown, and the ball was tossed into the box where it found the head of Barba. It then flew to the left side where Seifert got his head on it and blasted it past keeper Kyle Parks.
Barba gave Princeton the lead abotu 15 minutes later when senior Vikram Pothuri set up the play. He was about 25 yards out on the left wing and launched the ball into the box where it was settled by Reiner and layed off Barba for the strike through traffic.
Harvard's leading scorer Jake Freeman knotted it at 2-2 in the 34th when he stripped he tried to dribble the ball into the box, before it was momentarily taken by a Tiger defender but he couldn't hang on to it as Freeman stole it back and sent in a low shot. He assisted on the game winner in the 42nd minute, Eric Gylling's second goal of the year. Gylling took a shot from about 25 yards out through the defense and past a diving Josh Haberman.
Haberman finished the first half with two saves and was replaced by freshman Jacob Schachner for the second. Schacher, who made his first collegiate appearance on Tuesday at Georgetown had two saves and did not allow a goal. Schachner's saves were just seconds apart and both on Matthew Glass with 18 minutes to play at point-blank range.
Parks stopped three shots for Harvard as shots finished an even nine apiece.
Sophomore Jeremy Colvin nearly tied it with three seconds left when Bryan Windsor rushed to put a corner kick in play with the PA announcer counting down the last 10 seconds, but Parks was there to hang on for the win and keep the Crimson unbeaten in league play at 3-0-1.
Princeton, now 6-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Ivy League, will travel to Cornell next Saturday, Oct. 29 for a 5 p.m., game.
