Monday Notes/Highlights: Holuba Earns Defensive Player Of The Week, Lovett Keeps Pace

Here are the Week 6 Monday Notes following the 23-20 overtime loss to Harvard:

• Junior Kurt Holuba earned Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors following a brilliant performance against Harvard, when he posted a career-best 10 tackles and three sacks in the overtime loss; his three sacks accounted for 30 yards for loss against the Crimson. Holuba moved to third in the Ivy League in sacks (4.5) on the season.
• Both Luke Catarius (12 tackles) and John Lovett (2 rush TDs) were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
• Lovett, who forced overtime with a last-minute touchdown run Saturday, now shares the NCAA FCS lead in rushing touchdowns despite playing in at least one fewer game than anybody inside the top 8. He has 12 touchdowns on the year, seven short of Keith Elias' Princeton record of 19, set in 1993. Quinn Epperly '15 made a run at that record during the 2013 Ivy League championship season, but he finished his Bushnell Cup-winning season with 18 rushing scores.
• Princeton's rushing defense moved to the top of the Ivy League and now ranks fourth in the FCS; the Tigers are allowing only 85.0 rushing yards per game, and they have limited opposing rushers to 2.4 yards per carry.
• While head coach Bob Surace praised the effort of his entire team Saturday, he gave special individual credit to junior tackle Mitchell Sweigart, who played every offensive snap of the Harvard game due to injuries his line suffered either prior to or during the game. Sweigart has started the last 16 games for Princeton, although he was a regular rotation player his freshman season.
