Qualifying Singles Consolation Draw
The Princeton trio of Alex Day, Luke Gamble and Diego Vives were defeated Monday in their bid to advance through the qualifying singles draw at the ITA All-America Championships in Tulsa.
Day forced a third set after dropping the opening frame to USC's Rob Bellamy before Bellamy won 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. Vives and Gamble each fell in straight sets, Vives to Baylor's Jimmy Bendeck 6-2, 6-0 and Gamble to George Washington's Julius Tverijonas, 7-5, 6-3.
Before Day and Gamble compete in the main doubles draw beginning Thursday, Day and Vives will compete in the qualifying singles one-round consolation draw Tuesday. Day will begin at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET against Rice's Jake Hansen, followed by Vives against Illinois' Julian Childers at 10:30 CT/11:30 ET.
