George Washington, Navy Travel to DeNunzio Pool Sunday

PRINCETON, N.J. – After five straight Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) matchups at DeNunzio Pool, the No. 13 Tigers will host two non-conference foes in George Washington (11 a.m.) and Navy (2 p.m.) on Sunday afternoon. Both games can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Last week, the Tigers began with a 9-8 victory over St. Francis-Brooklyn on Wednesday. Junior Jordan Colina tallied four goals including the game-winner with 2:41 to go. Princeton also scored a 12-7 decision over Iona with five different Tigers posting multi-goal outings on Friday. The next day, Princeton used a three-goal spurt during the third quarter to run by then No. 15 Brown, 11-7. The Tigers finished the weekend with a split, suffering a loss to then No. 8 Harvard (8-7) and toppling MIT (13-7).
The Tigers sit atop the NWPC standings with a 4-1 record followed by St. Francis-Brooklyn (3-2), Brown, Harvard (2-1), Iona (1-4) and MIT (0-3).
Princeton has won 39 of the 40 matchups vs. George Washington in program history. The Tigers have won 37 consecutive games against the Colonials, last losing in October of 1997. The two teams squared off twice last season with Princeton scoring 14-9 and 18-9 decisions.
Navy leads the all-time series vs. Princeton, 35-31. The Tigers have won the last seven meetings and 10 of the last 11. Navy's last victory over head coach Luis Nicolao's team was in 2013. Princeton took down Navy three times in 2015.
Colina scored 12 times in the Tigers' five games last week and now sits with a team-best 34 goals on the year. Sophomore Matt Payne's 66 points paces the offense, securing 33 goals and 33 assists. Princeton has showed a balanced attack as eight players have posted at least 10 goals or more. Junior Vojislav Mitrovic has a .564 save percentage and has stopped 10 or more shots in all but two of his starts.
