Men's Track & Field Wins Nine Events at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/21/16) - The Princeton men's track & field team won nine of 13 events its entered on Sunday as it hosted the Princeton Invitational at Jadwin Gym.
Earning victories were: Charles Volker (60), Christian Fryer-Davis (500), Stephen Rossettie (800), Brett Kelly (3k), Greg Caldwell (60 hurdles), Andrew Diehl (high jump), Jake Scinto (long jump), Lane Russell (triple jump) and Adam Kelly (weight).
It marked the final indoor competition before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship next week, Feb. 28 & 29 at Cornell.
Three Tigers reached the finals of the 60, with Volker taking the win at 6.80. Sophomore Carrington Akosa was third at 6.85 and junior Brent Albertson was fifth at 7.13.
Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 60 hurdles. Caldwell won at 8.03, with sophomore James Burns second at 8.39 and sophomore Spencer Long third at 8.43.
Albertson and senior Dan McCord had matching times in the 200, with Albertston getting the edge, 22.511 to 22.516, for fourth and fifth place
Junior Bryant Switzer and junior Jabari Johnson went 2-3 in the 400 – the top two collegiate times at 50.10 and 50.11
Fryer-Davis and senior Jordan Myers went 1-2 in the 500 at 1:05.42 and 1:06.69, respectively.
Rossettie won the 800 with a PR of 1:54.31. He was followed by sophomore Jared Lee in third at 1:55.40, freshman Franklin Aririguzoh fifth at 1:56.19 and sophomore Zachary Albright sixth at 1:56.89.
In the field events, freshman Kelly won the weight throw with his best throw of the season, a 20.89 (68-6.50). It was his fourth time throwing over 20 meters this season. In fifth place was junior Vic Youn with a throw of 17.54 (57-6.50).
Sophomore Mitchel Charles was second and the top collegiate in the shot put at 17.15 (56-3.25) – as only two cleared 17-meter mark. Junior Jared Bell was fifth at 16.00 (52-6).
Diehl made it over the bar at 2.01 (6-7) to win the high jump and in a jump off in the triple, it was Russell coming out on top for the title at 14.85 (48-8.75).
Scinto won the long jump at 7.33 (24-00.75) the only one in the eent to reach 24 feet. Junior Greg Leeper was third at 6.93 (22-9).
Sophomore August Kiles was second and the top collegiate in the pole vault at 4.93 (16-2). Junior Ben Gaylord was third at 4.65 (15-3).
