No. 15 Women's Water Polo Splits During Day 1 at Bucknell Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 15 Princeton women's water polo team split during day one at the Bucknell Invitational, dropping a 9-5 decision to No. 20 Wagner Seahawks in its first game and scoring an 18-4 win in game two on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will battle Gannon tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Junior Morgan Hallock's three goals tied her career best and led the way for the Tigers while freshman Lindsey Kelleher added three assists. Sophomore Haley Wan and freshman Eliza Britt snagged three steals each.
Hallock registered the only tally for Princeton in the first quarter as it trailed, 2-1 after eight minutes of play. Senior Pippa Temple tied the contest at two with 2:25 left in the first half, but Wagner scored the next two goals to take a 4-2 halftime lead. Junior Sydney Saxe and Wan again tied the match for the Tigers at 4-all in the third frame, but the Seahawks quickly countered about a minute later. Wagner took a 6-5 lead in the final stanza and tacked on three more insurance goals to take the contest, 9-5.

Wan and Hallock secured three goals each while eight other Tigers scored in the game. Sophomore Emily Smith led the team with a career-high six points. Wan and Kelleher also had two helpers each in the victory. Eight players had at least two points for Princeton. Sophomore goalie Helena van Brande made 13 saves on the back line for the Tigers.
Princeton tallied the first eight goals of the contest and never looked back. The Tigers led 5-0 after one quarter and 9-1 at halftime. Princeton's 18 goals were the most since its 18-6 win over Iona last season (Feb. 8).
